As a frequent traveller via airplane, or otherwise for that matter, one of my biggest worries is having the airline loose my baggage. The last thing you need is to be trapped in a foreign country without clean underwear. But that should no longer be an issue as a new system called Bag2Go, with iPhone app (Find My Bag) in tow (still in prototype phase) is being tested by Airbus. The new luggage is a remarkable development that uses the handle to calculate the weight of your goods and RFID chips for tracking your stuff in airports ready with the corresponding tech. This way you’re bags will always find their way to you, as long as YOU end up where you need to. The chip has all the details of your trip and linked to you flight itinerary or frequent flyer id.
So attempting to use your ever lovin’ smartphone with your luggage, Airbus is working on not just selling the ‘smartluggage’ but also renting it with home delivery. It’s slated to cost about 20% more than a standard set of suitcases. Bag2Go is still a work in progress till licences for airports are worked out but suffice it to say, we’re on the verge of a new travel era.
